After previously participating in Web Summit in Lisbon, City of Warsaw has now joined us at Web Summit Vancouver for the first time to showcase its tech ecosystem on the North American stage.

To make a serious impact on the event floor, the delegation anchored their presence with a prominent 12m x 12m exhibition space dedicated to showcasing their most promising local startups. The investment in visibility paid off as they walked away highly satisfied with the high-intent connections made, proving their ecosystem is primed for North American expansion.

“We are absolutely amazed by how the city of Vancouver and Web Summit Vancouver look like. You’ve created an amazing community of startups and founders here.” Agnieszka Mieszkowska, Senior Specialist at City of Warsaw.

Smart networking

The event’s true value lay in the caliber of its attendees. Rather than navigating crowds of casual onlookers, the City of Warsaw delegation found a targeted cohort of decision-makers with clear commercial objectives.

“People are not here at random. They are concentrated on asking good questions and finding valuable business.”

The critical role of events for country delegations

For City of Warsaw, Web Summit Vancouver served as a vital corporate gateway. The event was an effective way to capture concentrated foreign capital, and to share their entire regional infrastructure on the global map.

“We have real momentum finding investors here for Polish startups.”

Agnieszka highlighted the strong market recognition they encountered among North American attendees. “I’m really amazed at how many businesspeople know the Polish investment and the Polish startup ecosystem,” she shared.

Unlocking real opportunities for Polish startups

Warsaw’s participation directly benefited regional business talent. By bringing select startups and organisations into Vancouver, Warsaw granted their entrepreneurs immediate access to international networks.

“Web Summit creates an amazing community and space to exchange experiences for cities, founders, startups and for investors.” In 2026, they brought 10 startups and two ecosystem institutions to Vancouver and they’re already thinking about next year’s delegation.

“It would be so amazing if we could bring another group of startups next year to exchange experiences.”
